Description

The Macadamia Nut Baumkuchen is a crunchy and soft cake. With about 20 layers the ring is about 12 cm / 5 inches in diameter.

We use famous Hawai’ian Macadamia Nuts crushed into small pieces. Besides the wonderful fresh Macadamia Nuts the typical German spices that we use turn this Macadamia Nut Baumkuchen into an extra delicious and unique cake.

Baumkuchen (in German: Baum = tree, Kuchen = cake) is a cake/bread baked on a stick. Layer after layer is placed on the stick and baked overn an open fire. At nearly 570 F, the outside of the cake turns brown and forms the “annual rings” of the Baumkuchen. All the time, the baker must control and supervise the baking. If the cake is baked too long (just a few seconds), it will burn, but if it is too moist, the cake may fall off the stick on which it is baked.

The whole process is very time consuming and elaborate, an art of baking. That is why Baumkuchen is also called the “King of Cakes” and is included in the logo of the German Confectioners’ Guild.

Another reason why it is called the “King of Cakes” is that German royalty came to know and love Baumkuchen around 1850. King Frederick William IV of Prussia tried the Baumkuchen in 1843 and was so delighted that he took the rest of the cake with him to Berlin. About 20 years later, in 1865, King William the First, having tasted Baumkuchen, had Baumkuchen delivered regularly to his court in Berlin. Since then, Baumkuchen became popular in the aristocratic society and from there all over the world.

Today, Baumkuchen is one of Japan’s most popular snacks.

Baumkuchenfarm is now bringing their new delicious and soft Hawaiian Baumkuchen to the US and the world.
